Religion: Prayers, Sacraments, the Mass, Advent, Lent, service projects, retreat and First Reconciliation are some of the big ideas in second grade.

English/Language Arts: Along with learning and refining skills such as context clues, drawing conclusions, main idea, and parts of speech, we practice fluent and expressive oral reading, writing stories, reports, and even writing and illustrating our own book at the end of the year.

Math: In addition to learning the basics of addition, subtraction, time, money, geometry, place value, and fractions, we provide practice with writing and explaining our mathematical thinking, problem solving, and lots of hands on work with manipulatives and games.

Science and Social Studies: Topics such as plants, animals, weather, matter, space, biographies, communities, history, and current events are studied and often connected with math and language arts lessons.
